CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND

See the sights of Cambridge, then retire to Sheene Mill, a 17th-century water mill in Melbourn, 10 miles away. There are nine bedrooms, all with river views. For overblown romance choose the cream-and-ivory (David) Emanuel suite with Queen Anne bed canopy and a message to guests from the dress designer scribbled on the wall. Even more quirky is the Water Room with its waterbed, buxom-mermaid mural and portholes.
X-FACTOR
The excellent, seasonal organic menu (about £30 per person) is overseen by owner and chef Steven Saunders. Live jazz every evening from around 7.30pm.
