The 'Pink Palace' was built in 1912 and has featured in numerous movies, among them Shampoo, The Way We Were and American Gigolo. Its swimming pool is something of a Hollywood legend: most famously, Olympic champion Johnny Weissmuller is said to have been given the part of Tarzan in the 1932 film after leaping into the pool to save a floundering girl.
