3Rooms is a three-room B&B tucked into a corner of 10CorsoComo, Carla Sozzani's cult fashion complex with a restaurant, bar, café, boutique and art gallery. It is some distance from Milan's cultural attractions, but the fashion-buyers who make up its clientele are too happily ensconced to notice. US designer Kris Ruhs has set a new standard for B&Bs, creating individual apartments, each with a private entrance, bedroom, living room, dressing room and bathroom. The decor combines cool white walls with 20th-century design classics, including Arne Jacobsen's Swan and Egg chairs, Charles and Ray Eames bedspreads, Joe Colombo lights, Op Art rugs, a Noguchi sofa and Ruhs-designed crystal tables.
The bathrooms are decorated with Bisazza mosaic tiles. In-room Internet access and
private fax machines are provided, and there are Bang & Olufsen televisions and music systems. The room-service breakfast is expansive, with a choice of 24 teas and infusions, 13 coffees, numerous cakes, pastries, cheeses, fruits and cereals, and
an unusual but delectable omelette made with Indian spices.
