| THE FACTS ABOUT PARK HYATT PARIS-VENDOME | |
| France Paris | |
| The stylish mahogany entrance of the Hyatt's latest Parisian hotel is so discreet you could stroll down the fashionable rue de la Paix and miss it. But step inside the vast lobby, with its sleek restaurant/bar decorated in mauve silks, plush beige fabrics, modern art and a galaxy of orchids and the 'ooh' factor kicks in. Ed Tuttle, the architect of many Amanresorts, has created a streamlined palace of 188 dazzling rooms, including 29 suites, decorated with sombre polished wood, taupe and cream fabrics and
gold-silk curtains. Original touches include 'disappearing' sliding doors that dramatically
reveal the limestone and gilded-tap bathrooms. The hotel's young staff are exceedingly friendly which shows a pleasing lack of formality. All the best Parisian boutiques are within walking distance but you'll want to spend quality time in your room - it's that kind of place - or unwinding in the fitness centre, spa and hammam. The adjacent gastronomic restaurant, Le Park, is a minimalist, spiral arrangement of tables and marble columns, where chef Christophe David (formerly at Taillevent) performs centre stage in his state-of-the-art, open-plan kitchen.
