Certainly the most stylish hotel in Budapest, the glass-fronted art'otel is beautifully situated on the Buda side of the Danube, with splendid views of the river and the fairy-tale Gothic pile of the parliament. The art'otel is a refreshing splash of modern individuality for those travellers wanting a change from the homogeneity of larger hotel groups. The 165-room hotel is filled with 600 pieces of art, decorating both the light and spacious public places, and the state-of-the-art bedrooms, each of which includes the now standard modems, PC connection and voice-mail. The oddly named Chelsea restaurant offers lighter versions of traditionally heavy Hungarian culinary classics such as duck, goose liver and hearty soups, as well as modern mid-Atlantic fish and seafood dishes. The staff are young, courteous and enthusiastic. It is all very urban and very modern, but never stark and angular.
