Unlike its nearby peers, 60 Thompson has tried to make as quiet a splash as possible. The 12-storey brown brick structure is set back some 20 feet from the sidewalk, allowing for a small courtyard café ringed by birch trees. Business travellers will appreciate most of 60 Thompson's 100 large rooms, equipped with high-speed Internet access, DVD players and cordless phones. But be warned, only the suites come with desks. Other notable touches include cove lighting throughout, Italian mosaic-tiled bathroom floors, Frette linens, a Dean & Deluca-stocked minibar, and a mini 'Beauty Bar' filled with Philosophy products. Thom, the Asian-themed restaurant is overseen by Jean Marc Houmard of Indochine and Bond Street.
