A 14-room hotel in the old part of Ibiza Town, Hotel La Ventana is full of character and has a restaurant good enough to be booked up in advance by the locals. Painted in sky-blue and white, the hotel has an unpretentious style, with simple bathrooms, iron four-posters and rough, muraled walls. Members of staff are very helpful and accommodating.
THE DESTINATION
Ibiza has two faces. Inland it is sleepy: kaftan-clad bohemians lounge in fincas and villas set among fields and gentle hills. But in Ibiza town the only option is to revel in the nightlife for which the island is famed. The beaches can be hectic at the height of summer, so Ibiza is no place to take the kids then.
