The old Hacienda de San Rafael, set in a former olive grove, has been sensitively converted into an 11-room hotel by its Anglo-Spanish owners. The rooms, furnished with dark wood and fitted with crisp, white linen, are built around a central courtyard in which alfresco dinners are served. There's a pretty pool and a lawn with rustic sun loungers. The hotel also has three one-bedroom casitas (thatched cottages) - each with a 100-square-metre bedroom - that share a private pool. Service is impeccable.
THE DESTINATION
The hotel is set in flatlands between Seville and Jerez de la Frontera. The beautiful 'white villages' for which Andalucia is famous are an easy day-trip away, as are the cultural attractions of Seville.
