For five-star escapism including plenty of water sports, Chauve Souris is hard to beat. This tiny, rocky island, no more than 50 metres long and 20 metres wide, accommodates a maximum of 10 people in five luxurious, themed rooms. Three of them, 'Lady's', 'Countryman' (in cottage style) and 'Admiral's' (the largest, with a good-sized terrace), are in the main house where meals are served, while the other two are set apart and built into the granite rocks (there is no beach). Of these, 'Shipwreck Survivor' is the smallest, 'Pirate' is considerably larger and built over two floors. Praslin, the second-largest Seychelles island, is only 300 metres across the water and you can take a boat to Anse Volbert and the Côte d'Or Lodge's water-sports club, where use of the equipment is included in your price. Or you can hire a car to explore Praslin and visit its National Park. Chauve Souris is reached by a 15-minute flight from the international airport on Mahé to Praslin, followed by a taxi ride to Anse Volbert and a short boat transfer.
