Expect Indian swank - five-star hotel efficiency with personal service - at this distinctive hotel beside Lake Pichola. In the garden, there is a marble swimming pool, while the interiors (stone screens, carved pillars, marble floors and inlaid glass) have been meticulously restored. The suites are superb, with views over the lake, garden or city. Some are modern, others time-warped. Standard rooms in the old stable block are not recommended, and beware the laundry - clothes can get thrashed.
