| THE FACTS ABOUT TRIZONI | |
| Greece Ionian_islands | |
| Restored from scratch by its Greek-American owner, Trizoni, in northern Cephalonia, looks like any other simple, stone cottage clinging to a remote hillside. You could easily drive past without noticing it, and absolute privacy is part of its charm. From the road, a path leads down to a flagstone terrace framing a narrow, dark-bottomed pool, cleverly designed to blend in with the landscaped gardens. The same subtle attention to detail features in the well-decorated interiors, where authenticity is combined with modern European flourishes such as plastic designer chairs: the kitchen may look rustic, with its terracotta floors and butcher's block worktop, but it is fitted with state-of-the-art appliances. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living/dining area have views across lush hills to the Ionian Sea. Upstairs, the breezy bedrooms have chequerboard floors and sleek grey-and-white marble bathrooms screened by wooden partitions.
