ANEMONE RESIDENCE

POROS, GREECE
Despite being only an hour from Athens, and extremely pretty, little Poros has remained off the tourist trail. Austrian architect Marie Luise Antoniadou has converted several tumbledown buildings in the main town into self-catering apartments and houses. The latest addition, Anemone Residence, consists of two properties connected by a flower-filled courtyard: Anemone House and the romantic Little Tower, Pyrgaki. Years of restoration work have paid off handsomely. A stone staircase leads from the garden up to the sky-blue 'sala' (living room) of Anemone House, where there are views of the harbour from a wooden balcony. A spiral staircase leads down into the peach-coloured bedroom whose decadent bathroom comes with a Jacuzzi and Crabtree & Evelyn products. Pull back the lace curtains to reveal a plunge pool shaded by a gnarled olive tree. Decked in nautical white and blue, Pyrgaki shares the same stylish comforts and sweeping views.

SLEEPS
2-4 in Anemone House (one double, one sofa bed); 3 in Pyrgaki (one double, one sofa bed)

COST
From €1,000 per week for Anemone House; from €480 per week for the Pyrgaki
