WHAT? A piece of the best Scottish links terrain seemingly transplanted to Sweden. Remote and windswept, with sand dunes, spectacular beaches, a lagoon, even a lighthouse. Opened in 1909, it has the links-golf feel now becoming fashionable on US courses WHERE? On the edge of the Baltic Sea, the course sits on a peninsula at Skane, southern Sweden. Across the sea is Denmark; 485km to the north-east is Stockholm. The new bridge linking Sweden and Demark makes Falsterbo more accessible, but only just WHY? Well worth the long detour. Golf-mad Sweden has new courses all over the country but few can match Falsterbo, which would be on many more 'World's Best' lists were it not so remote WHEN?
