VILLA TERRA INCOGNITA

AKYAKA, TURKEY
PHOTO GALLERY
One of the reasons couples take a villa is to get away from everyone (else). Terra Icognita, high on a mountainside above the tiny village of Atakoy, will successfully remove you from the social frenzy without cutting you off completely. It is accessed along a winding, unmade track very few will think to explore, yet civilisation is visible in the staggering views over to the Bay of Gokova. The compact, air-conditioned house has high, sloping ceilings which give it a sense of space. It is furnished in a straightforward style, and has an open-plan kitchen and living room on the ground floor. Wooden steps lead to the mezzanine, and there's a small swimming pool cut into the hillside.
