Villa holidays for large groups are all about lazy alfresco living. La Conca, in Marina della Lobra just outside Sorrento, has a huge bamboo-shaded terrace just off the sunny kitchen, with plenty of seating (including a table that seats 14), a hammock and a wood-fired pizza oven. Some of the cool, tiled bedrooms have private terraces or balconies with stunning views of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. You need only go indoors to sleep (but with the hammock, perhaps not even then). The house spills down the hillside on four levels and has a solarium on the roof, a tennis court, a handsome 15-metre swimming pool, and sub-tropical gardens (and a lift).
