From Casa al Bosco you can see Siena in the distance, close enough for a day trip. But you could just spend a week getting lost in the villa's extensive grounds. Two large salons open onto pergola-covered terraces straight out of Stealing Beauty and, food being an important part of any Italian experience, the big, well-equipped kitchen does the local produce proud (a cook prepares lunch from Monday to Saturday). For good local wine, try Enoteca San Domenica in Siena, near the church of the same name, and evening tastings at the Enoteca Italiano di Siena, piazza Matteotti which is wonderfully located in a Medici fortress.
