WHY GO
The eternal romantic destination, Paris is a great city to discover and then return to. As different areas have different characters, it is worth trying something and somewhere new each time.

WHERE TO STAY
Hotel Balzac is located 20 metres away from Champs Elysées, and the almost unbeatable location is matched by stylish rooms, an intimate atmosphere and extremely friendly staff. The corner suites are particularly lovely, and have views over the Eiffel Tower. 6 rue Balzac, Paris 75008 (00 33 1 44 35 18 00; www.hotelbalzac.com).

WHERE TO EAT
Le Pamphlet doesn't have a website where you can browse the menu before you go, but don't let that put you off: this is a fantastic restaurant that serves gourmet food for local brasserie prices. The set menu for just 35 Euros is a delicious treat and staff are perfectly friendly and informal. 38 rue Debelleyme, 75003 Paris (00 33 1 42 72 39 24).

WHAT TO DO
Spend a day in Saint-Germain-de-Prés: head to Musee d'Orsay in the morning for a spot of culture, then head into the backstreets on the south bank to discover pretty bistros, impromptu street markets and a generally romantic Parisian atmosphere. Musee d'Orsay is located on 62 rue de Lille, 75007 Paris (00 33 1040 49 48 14; www.musee-orsay.fr).
