A country with more than just Christian traditions, Easter in South Africa is predominantly about enjoying the weather (it's high summer at the moment) and spending quality time with the family. While the Christian population observe church rituals like most others across the world - with a sombre day on Good Friday and family feasts and celebrations on Easter Sunday -the long weekend is the perfect opportunity to spend time outdoors. In Cape Town, people flock to the restaurants and bars on the Victoria and Albert Waterfront, while others take the opportunity of a long drive with several stopovers on the Garden Route on the Cape.
