The Côte d'Azur is a fantastic spring destination, and Nice is a great spring city. Right now, the hotels tend not to be fully booked and the city isn't packed with celebrities and Hollywood stars, which means that you get a chance to discover the area and its coastline undisturbed. Book tickets for the Opéra de Nice (the 19th-century building is worth the visit alone), and climb the stairs to the Colline du Château in the old part of town, where Nietzche went for strolls while writing Thus Spake Zarathustra. The views from the top are extraordinary.
