GRENADA

GRENADA
PHOTO GALLERY
Famous for its nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, turmeric, mace and ginger, the 'Spice Island' of Grenada, together with its twin sisters, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, form the southernmost tip of the Windward Islands. All three islands have blindingly white beaches, the most spectacular is Grenada's Grand Anse. This two-mile crescent is one of the most famous in the Caribbean. The island is small, only 21 miles by 12 miles, and offers a taste of the 'real Caribbean' - unspoilt, undiscovered, sleepy and utterly peaceful. The capital is St George's, a pastel-coloured mishmash of buildings that cluster round the picturesque harbour. The Grand Etang National Park, on Grenada, has lush rainforest and waterfalls. Stay at the all-inclusive Spice Island Beach Resort (www.spicebeachresort.com, rooms from around £400) which has extensive facilities for families, or the smaller, boutiquey La Luna (www.laluna.com, from around £180).
