When in need of a good hotel with an accompanying beach and stunning views, going to Cornwall is always going to be a safe bet. Driftwood Hotel in Rosevine is one of the best hotels in the area, with plenty of character and beneficial seaside air. The rooms are quaintly Cornish (think muted pastels, bleached wood and pebbles) and the decked terrace is a fantastic place for breakfast in the summer, with great views over the bay. Driftwood famously has a 180-degree view over the sea and you might just get lucky enough to spot a dolphin or a whale if you visit during the right season. The Driftwood Restaurant is light and airy and offers pan-European food, including a tempting tasting menu.
Rosevine, Near Portscatho, South Cornwall TR2 5EW, England (01875 580 644; www.driftwoodhotel.co.uk). Double rooms start from £200, including breakfast and dinner.
