At the southern end of Kata beach, the best and quietest of Phuket's string of fabulous sand beaches that run along the west coast of the island, Baan Keeree is only 20-30 metres from the shore. It comprises three buildings in a U-shape around a pool terrace, with staff at the back. There are four bedrooms, quarters divided between a two-storey building at the back, and two single-storey wings. It's not completely isolated but no other houses obscure the view of the sea and it's just a five-minute walk to The Boat House, one of the area's best restaurants and wine bars. The calm sea (the surf only swells in monsoon season), playground, lower terrace with splash pool and tree house make this a great place to take children.
