HARBOUR ISLAND, BAHAMAS

This new hotel next door to The Landing is owned by Wallace Tutt, a Miami property developer. It's a slick, nine-room boutique hotel with a private gym and 40ft swimming pool flanked by thatched cabanas in a similar style to those at Ian Schrager's mould-breaking Delano. This aesthetic might suit South Beach but here it feels out of place - it's too modern for this pretty, dozy, barefoot-chic Bahamian backwater. That said, others might prefer the Rock House because of its look-at-me glamour. And it's definitely worth eating at one of the two restaurants. The comfort food, including a jumbo crab cake with red-pepper confit and tarragon aļoli, is excellent.
