PINK SANDS

BAHAMAS
PHOTO GALLERY
Powdered coral from the barrier reef is the explanation for the name and nature of this beach, which is lapped by calm azure waters, a mile from Eleuthera. The beach itself is three-miles long and half-a-mile wide, and there's a handful of private villas and restaurants hidden among the dunes. Because Harbour Island has a tiny population of just under 2,000 and its small array of hotels can accommodate only a smattering of guests, the sands never feel crowded.

THE MONTH TO GO
May. It's after the Easter rush, prices are down, and the sun at this spot, 50 miles east of Nassau, continues to shine as bright.
