One of the most stylish houses to rent in the Lecrín Valley, Molino Bajo is a converted olive mill on the outskirts of Melegís. Reminders of the building's origins, such as traditional olive jars and part of the old press, have been incorporated into the design of the capacious, open-plan living areas. The red-tiled house wraps around a walled courtyard garden dominated by the swimming pool. Four of the five bedrooms are at the back of the house: two on the ground-floor (one with French windows to the courtyard) and two above with access to a roof terrace overlooking the pool.
One floor has a bathroom, the other a shower room. The master bedroom, which has a dressing room and en-suite bathroom, is reached by a spiral staircase from the dining room. There are quirky details such as an interior water feature and an enormous, circular, granite dining table, inlaid terracotta floors, high ceilings and built-in seating in the living areas; the bedrooms are decorated in rich, dark colour washes and lit with Moroccan lamps. Melegís has a couple of basic shops, one or two interesting buildings (including the Iglesia de San Juan Evangelista church) and one good restaurant, Los Naranjos.
