| THE FACTS ABOUT CASA MUNECA | |
| Spain | |
| Although technically it sleeps six, this sunny country cottage would be suitable for a couple. Casa Muneca is owned by a young artist who has furnished it with a comfortable mix of antiques and oriental rugs, stripped wood and original art: a shabby-chic country house in miniature. Lying in the rolling hills south of Casares, it has a saltwater swimming pool and sunbathing patio in the terraced gardens, from where there are views towards the fishing village of Estepona, 12km away. The cottage is compact but well-proportioned, with terracotta floors and beamed ceilings, an open fireplace and French windows from the living room on to a dining terrace. There are two bedrooms downstairs and one upstairs, with French windows on to a balcony. It is a short drive to Casares, which cascades down the side of a steep hillside and is topped by a Moorish castle. Despite its proximity to the coast, the village retains its typically Andalucían identity.
