| THE FACTS ABOUT CASA MONTEJAQUE | |
| Spain | |
| This village house would make an excellent base for a couple interested in hiking. Montejaque is a tiny white village in the Parque Natural de la Sierra de Grazalema, whose 52,000 hectares of pristine, Wild West landscape are filled with wildlife. Casa Montejaque is at the top of the village and there are views of the park from the vine-covered terrace. The interior-designer owner has created a cosy nest with low, beamed ceilings and an open fireplace. As you would expect, the decor is of a very high standard, with comfortable sofas and original paintings, and the small kitchen/diner has been recently refurbished. There is a pretty bedroom on the ground floor, but the only bathroom is upstairs, next to the second bedroom, which has its own living room and balcony. The shady, very private terrace has a fountain, sun loungers and patio furniture but no swimming pool (guests have use of a pool in the village in the summer months). The house is at its best in the spring or autumn months, when the weather is cool enough for walking or riding in the park. SLEEPS Four, but best for two; no children allowed PRICE £477-£888, per person per week, based on two sharing, including flights and car hire.
