Perched on the top of the very dramatic wood-and-glass structure of La Pomme de Pin hotel, Jean-Pierre Jacob's restaurant Bateau Ivre has breathtaking views of the valleys of Courchevel. A great chef, like his father Jean Baptiste, Jacob has come up with a menu that combines his own regional favourites with exotica from further afield: noisettes of suckling veal, for example, are paired with ravioli of caramelised pineapple and a jus of anise. To fulfil clients' expectations, Jacob also offers a range of luxury options: foie gras, crayfish, lobster, scallops, frog's legs and a delicate flan of sea urchins' tongues on a foam of shellfish. The bedrooms reflect their three-star status, being somewhat tired with rather small bathrooms. The hotel's own leisure centre has a sauna and hammam.
