HO CHI MINH, VIETNAM
The superkitsch bar on top of this 217-room hotel became famous during the Vietnam War, when it was used for briefings by army officers and boozing by war correspondents. Below the scene is surprising similar: hordes of motorbikes pushing through the crowded streets. The bar is still wonderful fun, but there's no excuse to just sit there, the rooftop tennis court is open until 9.30pm.
