| THE FACTS ABOUT HOTEL POSEIDON | |

| It's difficult choosing an alfresco restaurant on the Amalfi coast, as there are so many that will please in one way or another. For dinner, the trick is to choose one high up, so that you can look down at the twinkling lights below. The Palazzo Sasso in Ravello is wonderful, but if you are worried about the twisty drive up to it (and back down), head instead for the terrace at the family-run Hotel Poseidon along the coast in Positano: it offers a lovely view, and the restaurant serves a great version of the
local classic, taglioni al limone. Lunch under the bougainvillaea is delightful, too; if you are staying the night, so is a glass of iced limoncello while looking out over the sea. CONTACT Hotel Poseidon, via Pasitea 148, Positano (00 39 089 811 111; fax: 875 833; www.hotelposeidonpositano.it). Open daily 1pm-2.30pm, 8pm-10.30pm. Closed from 6 January to one week before Easter. Set lunch/dinner menu €40. Doubles from €200 | |
