Pennyhill Park takes spa-ing very seriously, with a good dose of luxury thrown in. Recently voted the UK's 'Most Excellent Spa 2007' by readers of Condé Nast Johansens, the spa at Pennyhill Park is now officially open to day visitors, and is only 40 minutes away from London. It is vast: covering 45,000 square feet, with eight pools, including the blue ballroom swimming pool, hot tubs, Jacuzzis and hydrotherapy pools. There is a fitness studio with state-of-the-art equipment (Pennyhill Park is where the England rugby team train) and 21 therapy rooms. There is also a schnapps steam room and sauna. Treatments use a combination of the spa's own in-house range and Li'tya, an Australian collection that incorporates native plants, sea minerals, and desert salts. If this isn't enough, there is a great room with waterbeds and duvets for a post-treatment nap. Chef Michael Wignall has recently joined the hotel to open Michael Wignall at The Latymer, coinciding with restaurant's complete refurbishment. Rooms are classic in design and have luxurious bathrooms, hand-commissioned furniture, pillow menus, and comfy beds.
Rooms from £280, including use of the spa facilities
