A 2,000-year-old market square where the people of Verona have met, bought their food and spent time in cafés for as long as anyone can remember. The square is lined by impressive 14th-century buildings, including the Gardello Tower and the Palazzo Maffei. The centre statue, the Madonna Verona, is based on a Roman statue and is one of the city's most famous monuments.
