Part of the Grenadines, this Caribbean island is so tiny (about 1,400 acres) that late-summer hurricanes have difficulty finding it and usually pass to the north. It's hot in August, up to 35°C; but it's cool, too. The high rollers descend on Mustique at Christmas, while in summer the island is left largely to its low-key villa owners, who hang out at Basil's bar and restaurant. The villas are a bargain now, with summer arets about 20 percent lower than in December. Bonus-blowers could book the new-look, eight-bedroom Yemanja (from about US$286 per person per night); but The Mustique Company also has cheaper options including two-bedroom properties from about US$143 per person per night.
