Gray says: 'Da Delfina is a 20-minute drive from Florence in a little village next to a huge Medici hunting lodge. It's a modern, red-brick building with vast windows and a large terrace looking out onto the surrounding olive groves - a perfect place for children to play. From the restaurant tables inside you can see ladies in white hats working away in the stainless-steel kitchen. The first time we went we had pasta with a really stunning stinging-nettle sauce; they also make salads from the wild flowers that grow around the restaurant in June and July, and artichokes marinated in olive oil, wine and herbs.'
