This ranch, situated among Ponderosa pines just north of Bend in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, becomes a traditional dude ranch for 10 weeks every summer, and all riding abilities are catered for. You can also fish, play tennis, volleyball, basketball, hike and take yoga classes. There's an extensive programme for children including overnight cook-outs. Accommodation is in cabins, all with sun decks and most with fireplaces.
Cost: All-inclusive, seven-night packages start from $2,438 per person, based on two sharing; children from $1,535. You are advised to book at least three to four months in advance - more if you are planning to take you family during a school holiday.
