| WHY GO |
| Verbier has long been the resort of choice for the rich, famous and wealthy, but even the crème de la crème needs a facelift at some point. For 2008, Verbier reinvented itself as the most glamorous resort in the Alps with three high-profile openings: Richard Branson's luxury chalet The Lodge, minimalist hotel Nevaï (which opened with a fashion show and a party hosted by Groove Armada), and Coco Club - the first VIP club in the Alps. The city has fabulous accommodation, nightlife and restaurants, and the skiing in Verbier is some of the best in the Alps. Renowned for its itinery runs (read "off-piste made easier"), there is enough to keep both beginners and brave advanced skiiers busy. If you aren't here for the snow, paragliding, heli-skiing and husky-sledging are popular alternatives. |
