For THE AMERICAS & THE CARIBBEAN, the Explora en Patagonia Hotel Salto Chico in Chile achieved sufficiently high scores across the board to propel it into first place, helped by a perfect 100 for environmental friendliness and a close-as-damn-it 98 for its rugged location. Elsewhere, Sandy Lane on Barbados was selected for its ambience/decor (96), the Bellagio in Las Vegas for its shopping facilities (90.91) and Carlisle Bay on Antigua for its standard/comfort of accommodation (90).
